The 1st IYCND Outcomes:

Aimed to bring together young people from different countries and to initiate discussions among them First International Youth Conference on National Democracies in overall has achieved it’s goal and has accomplished the following important objectives:

1. This was the first time ever to organize this kind of event for young people in Armenia. International youth conferences are very popular and widespread all around the world especially in Western countries, because they are believed to be one of the most efficient and democratic ways of rising issues and finding solutions. We can proudly say, that at last this kind of event took place in Armenia, a transitional country, which often faces the reality to make the things first time. The key outcome of the event is that it was the first one, and it succeeded.

2. Armenia often sounds exotic to foreigners, not that because it is far, but rather, it is unknown. At least it was – since on the map there was a huge red spot and nothing else. Revealing Armenia – that is the other success of the conference. All foreign participants had this chance not only to see Armenia, it’s nature and culture, but also to familiarize with the its discourse, and especially democratic discourse. Thus, the second outcome of the Conference was to show Armenia to the world, and we did it.

3. Armenian young people often lack communication with their foreign peers, definitely not because of the closed borders, but rather, because of lack of opportunities and not enough knowledge about the ways of communication. This Conference succeeded in giving chance to Armenian participants to get into international communication on democracy and to hear outsider’s opinion. Thus, another outcome of the Conference was to give the Armenian young people chance to observe their culture and discourse from outside.

4. The Conference succeeded to bring together people with different backgrounds, from different (very different!) countries and cultures. But they all found common language (besides English, this is also the language of mutual understanding, respect and affection!). Thus, next outcome of the conference was an establishment of international network of people interested in international politics, democracy and different culture. We truly hope, that the communication and collaboration between them will continue far beyond the Conference and will last as long as possible!

We truly believe that the first important step is taken, and the abovementioned accomplishments give us a definite sureness to go on with the next conference, to make it wider, broader and aiming even higher, because that is what we mean by LET’S YERITAC TOGETHER!
